Flannel Sheets

As I write this note, it is currently 4 deg. outside. According to AccuWeather.com, our "real feel" is -25 deg. I haven't been outside to experience these temperatures yet this morning, but it sounds really cold outside!!! I know that there are many areas up in our neck of the woods that are experiencing even colder weather than this. Our furnace has been running almost non-stop through the night and this morning. But in spite of all of this, it is absolutely gorgeous outside. The sun is shining very brightly on all of our snow, and the sky is such a beautiful color of blue. During this time of year we don't get many blue skies, so it is a very welcome sight indeed. But for me it all gives me many reasons to be thankful. Thankful for a warm house with a dependable furnace, and especially my flannel sheets. Being able to climb into a bed with warm flannel sheets brings me so much joy every single night. There is no need to get into bed and have to wait for it to warm up, it is already warm. God bestows His wonderful blessings on us in every possible thing -- even flannel sheets.

"...For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him." Matthew 6:8b

One cool way to keep warm that we use in our house is a rice sock. You fill up a old sock (with no holes)with rice and knot the top. Then whenever you want to use it then stick it in the microwave for about two minutes. I hide them behind pillows and other stuff like that and just heat them up whenever.

Hannah, you do exactly what I do! Besides my flannel sheets (which I love!), I use a rice sock every night to get warm in bed. No one else in the family wants one, but I shiver if I don't have mine.

Thanks Hannah for a great idea!! I think I will go make up a "rice sock" right when I am finished writing this note. My youngest was telling me that last night in addition to her flannel sheets, regular blanket, and comforter, that she added three additional blankets just to stay warm. Tonight I will give her a rice sock and see if that keeps her cozy. Thanks again.

Just wanted to make a note that my daughter absolutely loves her rice sock!! Last night she could hardly wait for bed time so that she could snuggle up with it. Thanks again for your tip.
